Imran Khan threatens the government to hold the elections as planned or face the consequences.

Imran Khan threatens the government

Imran Khan has stated unequivocally that the PTI will not accept any intervention in the democratic process.

Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has urged the federal government to implement the Supreme Court's decision to hold elections in Punjab. He also warned that if the elections are not held on time, there will be a reprisal.
Khan urged the entire nation to prepare for the approaching elections with a strong and clear message. "Get ready," he said. He exhorted the people to fight for their rights. Failing to do so, he cautioned, would leave a mark on history that would be difficult to remove.
Khan stressed the necessity of honoring the court's verdict to his followers through a video connection. The PTI declared 'Youm-e-Tashakkur' [thanksgiving] in response to the Supreme Court's decision to hold elections in Punjab.
Khan stated unequivocally that the PTI will not allow any meddling with the democratic process.
The top court's three-member panel unanimously deemed the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) order to postpone the poll in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa "unconstitutional."
The three-member court, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and comprised of Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, also directed the electoral board to hold a provincial election on May 14.
The ECP postponed the Punjab election to October 8 — originally set for April 30 — citing a rise in terror incidents, a scarcity of security personnel, and an unprecedented economic situation.
After the decision, the electoral commission announced the election date as May 14, with the stopped polling process set to start on April 10.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the federal cabinet have unanimously rejected the judgment and plan to introduce a motion in parliament against it.
PM Shehbaz told a meeting of coalition party leaders in Islamabad earlier today that the fate of the nation was being decided by unusual decisions.
He stated that such abuse of the Constitution and the law had never occurred before, and that "such a horrific spectacle had never met [his] eyes."
Nevertheless, Khan, who was deposed as prime minister in April of last year, feels that the coalition partners are "running away" from elections since their defeat is certain "and they are fully aware of it."
For leading the country out of the economic catastrophe, the former prime minister reiterated his stance about keeping prominent individuals accountable.
"The most significant reform would be to subject powerful individuals to the rule of law. If the rule of law is established, the investment would flood into Pakistan "According to the PTI chairman.
Khan, who has emphasized engaging Pakistanis living abroad, has stated that if overseas Pakistanis are assured that their investments would be safe, they will begin investing, therefore resolving the country's currency crisis.
The South Asian country is experiencing one of its most difficult economic crises, grappling with external loans, historically high inflation, and weak development prospects, among other challenges.
Presently, the State Bank of Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves are insufficient to cover less than a month's imports, and the rupee is at an all-time low of Rs287.85 per dollar.
